AAFCO, Nutrition & Product Standards

Does Mighty Mix meet AAFCO nutritional standards?

Yes! Our Biscuit range and Dog Roll are formulated to meet AAFCO nutritional requirements for all life stages—from puppies to older dogs. This means they provide 100% of your dog’s nutritional needs. The Frozen Concentrate is a high-energy supplement feed due to its fat content.

Who is your AAFCO approved by?

Our AAFCO testing is performed by Image Holdings Ltd who are long standing suppliers of ingredients and technical advice to the New Zealand Petfood industry. They review the analytical data presented to them to verify AAFCO compliance.

Do Mighty Mix Dog Food products contain by-products?

Yes, all Mighty Mix products contain by-products which are rich in natural vitamins and minerals essential to the dog’s nutritional requirements.

The by-products we use are sourced from New Zealand processing plants that solely process human consumption meats. This means that the animals for slaughter have to be healthy and free from medications – and they need to have passed veterinary checks prior to slaughter. Our meat sources are also specific to only the animals listed on our packaging.

Do your products contain chemicals?

No Might Mix Dog Food products do not contain chemicals.

Do any of the Mighty Mix dog food products contain artificial preservatives?

We do not add any artificial preservatives in the Mighty Mix process, and to the best of our knowledge neither do any of our ingredient suppliers. The Mighty Mix dog biscuits do contain a natural antioxidant preservative.

Is the food of human quality and are human grade ingredients used?

The meat products we use are sourced only from New Zealand processing plants that solely process human consumption meats. This means that the animals for slaughter have to be healthy and free from medications – and they need to have passed veterinary checks prior to slaughter.

However, this does not mean that they are fit for human consumption and we do not recommend that you eat them.

Ingredients

What ingredients are in Mighty Mix?

We use high-quality, human-grade meats, whole grains, salmon, green-lipped mussel, and kelp. Our products contain no chemicals, and our biscuits use a natural antioxidant preservative rather than artificial ones.

Does Mighty Mix contain cereal, corn, or gluten?

Our recipes are low in cereal, do not contain corn, and use whole grains only for their nutritional benefits. The Frozen Concentrate is less than 13% cereal, making it gentle for dogs with sensitivities.

Are there carbohydrates in Mighty Mix Frozen Concentrate?

Carbohydrates are commonly found in most everyday foods such as vegetables, grains and cereals. As wholegrain cereals are an ingredient in our products they are not carbohydrate free but the Mighty Mix Frozen Concentrate is very low in carbohydrates due to the lower cereal addition rate.

Product Preparation, Texture & Feeding

Is the Frozen Concentrate raw or cooked?

The Frozen Concentrate is a raw product to preserve nutrients. Some ingredients are pre-cooked, but the product is not cooked overall. You can feed it frozen or slightly thawed, but we do not recommend cooking it.

Nutrition Values & Health Benefits

What fat and protein does the Frozen Concentrate contain?

On average, the Frozen Concentrate contains 53% fat and 25% protein, making it a high-energy, nutrient-dense feed.
